Discover Paris at La Cité de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine
Rent with us and discover the architectural secrets of France
Maybe this is your 5th trip to Paris and you fee like you have seen it all? Perhaps you are fascinated by the cathedrals and abbeys found all over France. Or could you just be curious and want to learn as much about France as you can? I know, you are a student studying architecture! If you fit into one of these categories, you should think about spending a few hours or an entire day at La Cite de L’architecture et du Patrimoine. Situated near some of our loveliest apartment rentals.
This fascinating museum was reopened in 2007 and covers over 22,0000 m2. The museum is entirely dedicated to the discovery and knowledge of architecture and the city in all its forms, both past and present. From the minute you walk into the main level where you will find the moulds used to make many of France’s most famous monuments, you will know you are somewhere unique in Paris!
The views are amazing!
This beautiful building is another reason to come and stay in Paris. As you learn about how and why certain monuments were made, you can gaze out of the floor to ceiling windows and get some of the best views of the Eiffel Tower that you can get in Paris! The Tower seems to follow you as you walk through the galleries and experience the different views and lighting on the “Iron Lady”. You also get glimpses of other important monuments like Les Invalides, the Pantheon and Montparnasse. The contrast between ancient France and modern France are right before your eyes.

Travel around France while in Paris
The different rooms take you from the Arc du Triumph in Paris to Mont St. Michel and on to Vezalay in Burgundy and Languedoc in southern France. Learning about these buildings will inspire you to travel further within France to learn more about the spectacular architecture throughout the centuries.
City planning and contemporary structures
Once you have taken in your fill of ancient France, go up to the top floor and discover Paris today and how Haussmann designed a new city in the late 1800’s. A lot of the Paris apartment rentals we offer are in Hausmanian buildings. You will be introduced to many of Europe's important architects and even visit the Corbusier’s homes built in Marseille. The models that adorn this room will explain many structures found throughout France and Europe.
Painted and stained glasses are also highlighted
Don’t miss out on the last part of the museum where you can see some of the painting done in Cathedrals and abbeys recreated. There is also a part dedicated to stained glass but unfortunately it was closed when I visited. This will reopen in the coming months.
A dreamy library!
The Cite possesses an archive centre devoted to architecture of the 20th century. It is endowed with more than 300 archive collections! The atmosphere is library like and you have large windows looking out onto the Eiffel Tower and the Trocadero. Good luck concentrating with a view like that!
